Aside from fancy AI... the simpler solution would be to implement the same bots that Solocraft is using, and restrict them to instances 10-60. These bots will not provide scintillating conversation, but they will enable a solo user to complete quests and instances, including MC raids.

I don't know about the paladin quest, but the warlock wan will cost upwards of 500 gold to complete (closer to 800, if memory serves), so while I agree that it would be fun to be able to participate, it could be quite problematic if someone were to take part of the quest and at the end there was no ...

Ok, so it worked today, and the only different thing i did was that I specifically "clicked" (primary mouse button) the links not "open in new tab" (middle click).

My muscle memory was fouling me up.
