Transmoging at Mania!

Post by angelnix » Mon Feb 07, 2022 8:14 pm

Here's a little guide to help with the transmog in Mania! I hope you enjoy it!

Transmog – or xmog as it’s commonly known – is the act of changing the *looks* of your current gear.

Transmog in Mania is a feature added for our joy and pleasure; In retail it was only introduced in Cataclysm. Mania’s system is far more flexible in that in many cases you are not restricted to items that your toon can wear – for example clothies can transmog to plate armor. (There are exceptions to this.)

The steps for the process are:
1. Decide on your new look (for this guide, we assume you have already done this!)
2. Obtain the item that gives the new look
3. Apply this new Transmog look to your currently worn item
4. (Optional) Once everything is applied, save the looks set, so you can apply it to any other gear in the future

1. Decide on your new look
Well, ok we said we assumed you have already done this... but if you haven't, try the Wowhead Dressing Room. There's various other tools out there though. Just be a little aware that the Wowhead Dressing Room is based on current retail items; Mania does have many "modern retail" items available, but not all - and some models/colors can vary across patch updates

2. Obtain the item that gives the new look

We need start farming the physical items. Some are BOE (binds on equipping), others are BOP (binds on pick-up), so we will need take care of this when farming (when using another char to farm).

There are several ways to do this, depending on the item (and your patience!).
a) The "natural" way: go find the mob in the world and kill it until it drops, craft the item using a profession, buy it from a world NPC, or find the quest that rewards it.
b) The “alternative” way, is using one of the customs NPC at mall, that we will talk in more detail on one of the next points. These NPCs offer a quick way (for a price!) to obtain legacy Tier T1-8 sets or apply the looks of existing world items without the hours of farming (using Transmog Tokens; more about that later) - or in the case of items from later patches that cannot be farmed then "items" that contain the looks only.

You can keep your looks items in the Bank whilst gathering, but you will need them in your toon's bags in the next step of applying the xmog.

Transmog NPCs
Let's explain bit more about those custom NPCs in the Mall, as this is the unique part about Mania's xmog system.
There’s several NPC related with Transmog at the Mall and some at the Capital Cities (Stormwind, Orgrimmar and Dalaran), here we present them all and their purpose.

NPC Traders only at the Mall

Several NPCs are dedicated to selling full raid sets for a fixed amount of MP, one NPC for each of T1 to T8 (T1 – T5 125MP; T6 150MP; T7 175MP; T8 200MP), these are physical items that can be used as gear as well. These NPCs are not restricted by class; e.g. a warrior can buy a Priest set to xmog.

Kamekona & Jordy Smith <Assorted Transmorfication Items> - sells sets from other expansion and weapons. The items are only cosmetics and will go to your bag with no stats. Each one costs 2 Transmog Tokens and have no class restriction;
Harrison Jones <Artifacts & Glyphs Dealer> - sells weapons from others expansions and (minor) glyphs for druids to change appearance of their bear, cat and tree forms. Prices varies between 2 and 5 Transmog Tokens;
Will Maniac <Class Sets Vendor> - sells sets from other expansions. These items are for looks-only, are not wearable, and will go to your bag with no stats. Each one costs 2 Transmog Tokens and have no class restriction;
Felipe Toledo & Carissa Moore <Transmog & Used Surfboards Dealer> - sells sets from other expansion. Like Will's offerings, these items are for looks-only, are not wearable, and will go to your bag with no stats. Each one costs 1 Transmog Tokens and do have class restriction.

NPC Traders at the Mall and in Capital Cities (Stormwind, Orgrimmar and Dalaran at the enchanting shop)
Clemence Maniac <WoW-Mania Transmog Dealer> - sells some fun items, for 1 Transmog Token each;
Danno <Master Transmogrifier> - This one is a trickier one. He will sell you ONLY the appearance of the desired item (you will not get the item!!!) He will only show you gear similar at what you are using: if you are using plate he shows plate, if you are a paladin he will not show you warrior gear, if you use one hand mace he will only present you one hand maces, … Be careful with this NPC, it will insta-transmog your gear if you click it, and it’s *not reversible*! Each one costs 1 Transmog Token.
Warpweaver Hashom <Transmogrifier> - This is the NPC we all want!! He provides the service to perform the actual transmog, and save the mogs as a set. Beside the item we want to transmog, we will need some MP (Maniac Points) we will pay 5 MPS per slot we want transmog, and cross his palm with gold coin to save the set. There’s also the option to remove the transmog - for that you will need keep the items and have them in your bag when removing the transmog.

Transmog Tokens
We mentioned these when talking about the "alternative" farming method. This is another Mania feature; with them you can purchase very nice cosmetic items from the NPCs. You can obtain them by purchasing them at the webstore, in game with Maniac Points (50:1) or PVP Tokens (100:1); or occasionally we can also be lucky and a GM throw an event and reward us with some tokens!

3. Apply this new Transmog look to your currently worn item(s)
After farming, having the items, the MP’s, the money, we will visit Warpweaver Hashom and start the transmog process. This is done one slot at a time.
a) In his menu, click the slot you wish to transmog.
b) It will list every item (from those we have on bags) that can be used on the slot
c) Select an item and a confirmation window will pop up.
NB: If the source item is BoE (or BoA), after transmoging the source item used will become soulbound and untradeable.

4. Saving Transmog Sets
After building our set and all transmogged, we have the option to save the currently-worn set of transmogs. With Warpweaver Hashom's menu, choose “Manage sets” and there we can save up to 10 sets. Saving sets is very convenient, and saves a lot of MP!
When we upgrade a piece of gear, we will not need to transmog again, we just need go to the saved sets and apply the set wanted! Also, sometimes transmog can disappear for no known reason and we just need visit the NPC and apply the set. The gold cost for each set depends on the quality of the source items (if “green” items used, “blue” ones, …), but in general it is about 200-300g.

Fun facts and tips from my own experience!:
- Almost every slot can be transmoged to be invisible by using a fishing pole, mining pick, or weapon;
- Head, shoulders and weapons can’t be transmoged to be invisible; if you try this, you'll get an ugly blue and white checker cube! (for head you can use the option in the game's interface);
- Shoulders can be transmoged to be invisble using the Ferocious Pauldrons of the Rhino, that drops from Gortok Palehoof, in Utgarde Pinnacle, heroic mode;
- Wands can be transmoged into guns, but not bows or crossbows, but those can’t be transmoged into a wand;
- Shields can be transmoged into weapons (swords, mace, axes);
- Some flowers and even some fish can be used to transmog weapons;
- To avoid some transmog sets be lost (it might happen), store a low-level set gear in the bank that's transmoged with the set you don’t want to lose.

Thank you for reading!

And a BIG THANKS to Sausages and Jeyrella with the help given on fixing my post ;)

Cheers, Phoenix
